Feast of St. Michael in St. Angelo
The feast of St. Michael the Archangel in the picturesque village of Sant’Angelo Oct. 27 to 2
Scheduled for Sept. 20 to Oct. 2, 2022, the wine event features guided tours to discover the rural island and its ancient traditions with tastings, trekking routes and live music among typical farms and wineries.
The event includes daily morning and afternoon guided tours – distinguished by the names of island grape varieties – of Ischia’s oldest wineries.
A unique experience that leads directly into the ancient world made up of small farmers and large estates, united by their passionate connection to wine, which here dates back even to the times of Magna Graecia.
Vineyards overlooking the sea, ancient mule tracks, terracing and dry stone walls, historic palmenti and cellars dug into the green tuff: this is the peasant Ischia, simple and true, which for millennia has cultivated vines, defying bold slopes, in a heroic practice of viticulture.
Among the many initiatives, the day dedicated to the typical dish of the island’s culinary tradition, Rabbit Day, scheduled for Sept. 22, will be reconfirmed after the success of previous editions.
Between evocative trekking routes, which lead to the discovery of unique places with breathtaking views, and guided visits to wineries, the aim is thus to promote eco-sustainable tourism that is sensitive to the traditions of the island of Ischia.
